I want my paintings to contain and convey part of what I used to perceive as a boundless and unsubdued universe, namley: sewing patterns. To an imaginative child, they were mysterious, infinite and infinitely intense fantasy worlds, at times acing as retreat from reality or vehicle for pleasant levitation in the realm of fantasy when it took so little to get there. Even today I can harldy imagine that the abstract tangle of lines can be understood and the right shape found by tracking a line with the tip of one’s finger … I shall probably always see these patterns as constellations, three-dimensional maps, fingerprints, a universe …
